Viva! Summer Nights

Each summer, Sociedad Latina hosts our Viva! Summer Nights, an annual event series that celebrates the
diverse Latino cultures in our community through visual art, music, media arts, theatre, and dance. This
event series is a neighborhood-wide affair including public art displays, musical performances, cultural
showcases, and visits to our Mission Hill/Roxbury community by some of the region’s best Latino artists.
Each year, more than 2,000 people from across Boston come to our neighborhood to attend these events,
including youth and families, business and civic leaders, and college students. In line with our
organizational commitment to civic engagement, these events also feature youth-led community
organizing and health education activities. Our Viva! Summer Nights is a true coming together of
community to celebrate, explore, and elevate the Latino cultural traditions that promote social justice and
the arts that make our city so vibrant.

 

Every year, we provide different activities. For 2017, we are partnering with Mission Hill Neighborhood Housing Services and Viva will take place at One Brigham Circle (except on July 27). Our schedule is as follows:

June 22: From 6-8pm, guests will be able to enjoy the musical talent of the band The Buzz to dance and sing along to the biggest hits.

July 13: In The House will make you dance from 6-8 with pop, R&B and jazz hits.

July 20: Eric German y su Orquesta is back! If you enjoyed him last year, you'll love him again. Experienced in many styles such as, Afro-Cuban, Tropical, Jazz, and Rock, Eric German is one of the most esteemed percussionists in the music scene today. Since the age of 6, he has been performing and delighting fans, and by age 12, he began performing professionally.

July 27: Tito Puente Latin Music Series - Every year, Sociedad Latina partners with Berklee College of Music to bring award-winning Latin artists to Sheehy Park for a night of free music and dancing. This year’s event will be from 6-9pm at Sheehy Park and will feature Radio Calle 32.

August 3: Clave & Blues is back to delight you all with salsa music from 5-7pm.

August 10: From 6-8, come enjoy Honey Train and dance wto the top pop, rock, jazz and R&B hits.
